Vote.us.org ran a poll on its website where we asked people to tell us if they supported Muslim Ban. The results were quite astonishing – 64% of the 375 respondents voted for banning Muslim immigration to USA. While 34% voted against the idea there were 3% who said they had no opinion on the matter.
There has been a flurry of backlash on people who have opined against Muslims openly. Perhaps the anonymity that the online poll provided to the people made it possible for them to vote openly.
Trump has been leaders on the left, like Hillary Clinton, for failing to recognize the reality of the threat we face. Here is an excerpt of his remarks:
[quote=”Domald Trump”][J]ust a few weeks before San Bernardino, the slaughter, that’s all it was was a slaughter, Hillary Clinton explained her refusal to say the words “radical Islam.” Here is what she said, exact quote, “Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people, and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.” That is Hillary Clinton. …
We cannot continue to allow thousands upon thousands of people to pour into our country many of whom have the same thought process as this savage killer. Many of the principles of radical Islam are incompatible with Western values and institutions.
Remember this, radical Islam is anti-woman, anti-gay and anti- American.
I refuse to allow America to become a place where gay people, Christian people, Jewish people are targets of persecution and intimidation by radical Islamic preachers of hate and violence.
This is not just a national security issue. It’s a quality of life issue. If we want to protect the quality of life for all Americans — women and children, gay and straight, Jews and Christians and all people then we need to tell the truth about radical Islam and we need to do it now.”[quote]
Swing States
In Swing states, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado and Nevada voted against the Muslim Ban. This is a matter of concern for the Republicans because they will not be able to sway the swing states based on this issue. Ohio was the state with the most emphatic verdict in favor of the ban with over 81% respondents supporting the ban and just 14% opposing it and 5% refusing to opine either way.
Top 10 States
In the 10 states where we had the most respondents, with the exception of Florida, the states polled heavily in favor of the ban. Florida, which had seen the Orlando tragedy was favoring the ban by 52 to 48 opposing. This was contrary to what we were expecting especially since Florida has seen an ISIS ideology inspired attack.
Conclusion
Overall, this vote has seen the public buying into the fear of ISIS that Donald Trump has been selling and not paying any heed to the Obama/Clinton narrative that we should not fear ISIS on American soil.
