Should Trump Have attended the White House Correspondents' Association dinner?
  Yes

We have known for a long time that Donald Trump was not going to attend the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. We have known for a long time that Donald Trump was not going to attend the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. That said, it still felt slightly incomplete without the President at the gala. A lot of discourses have been made about the reason behind the absence and we would like to go a step forward and speak about the implications arising from this snub. It is not a secret that Trump at best has a contentious relationship with the media This is further complicated by the constant low blow attacks that keep coming from both sides. Trump is low on facts and high on rhetoric, which makes him an easy target. He is also being called out for future implications of his thoughts. I am reminded of a song by the artist known again as Prince "If a man is considered guilty / For what goes on in his mind / Then give me the electric chair / For all my future crimes-oh!" Well, Trump has been sitting on the electric chair of media trial from day one for true and perceived crimes. Somehow, illegal immigrants become a synonym of Latin Population, crime on street become the synonym of Black Youths and Secure borders become a synonym of hate for Muslims. This over-generalization of Trump statements is just as criminal as Trump's over-generalization of the Mexican-American people. The result of this mistrust is a media that is not trusted by the people and a President that is not trusted by the media. This trust deficit can only be decreased by a more transparent Trump Administration (which seems like a pipe dream) and a more tolerant and fair media (equally a distant dream). What do you think? Do you believe that Trump did right in staying away or could he have been the bigger man and attended the dinner to thaw the freeze? Close this
